چکیده

Providing users with awareness and control about privacysensitive information flows is a major challenge in Internet of Things scenarios, because of constrained input and output capabilities of the involved sensors and devices. We propose the use of autonomous personal drones, specifically nanocopters, as device-independent drone-based privacy interfaces. Nanocopters have the potential to indicate privacy risks, visualize information flows, and provide tangible privacy controls within a smart environment without being tethered to specific IoT devices. We provide an overview of recent advancements in human-drone interaction and describe our vision of leveraging personal drones as privacy indicators and controls, including a discussion of opportunities and associated challenges.

Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Postfire Vegetation Survey Campaigns through Large and Heterogeneous Areas: Opportunities and Challenges

This study evaluated the opportunities and challenges of using drones to obtain multispectral orthomosaics at ultra-high resolution that could be useful for monitoring large and heterogeneous burned areas. We conducted a survey using an octocopter equipped with a Parrot SEQUOIA multispectral camera in a 3000 ha framework located within the perimeter of a megafire in Spain. We assessed the quali...

Flying Eyes and Hidden Controllers: A Qualitative Study of People's Privacy Perceptions of Civilian Drones in The US

Drones are unmanned aircraft controlled remotely or operated autonomously. While the extant literature suggests that drones can in principle invade people’s privacy, little is known about how people actually think about drones. Drawing from a series of in-depth interviews conducted in the United States, we provide a novel and rich account of people’s pri vacy perceptions of drones for civilian...

MediaEval 2015 Drone Protect Task: Privacy Protection in Surveillance Systems Using False Coloring

This paper describes privacy protection method based on a false coloring approach for Drone Protect Task of MediaEval 2015. The aim is to obscure regions of a video that are privacy sensitive without sacrificing intelligibility and pleasantness. False coloring transforms the original colors of pixels using a color palette into a different set of colors in which private information is harder to ...
